The Beeb Does It All, Online

November 20th, 2008 · No Comments · Television

All BBC channels will be available to watch live online from 27 November, the broadcaster announced today.

Viewers can already watch BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies and BBC News in a live online simulcast, but from the end of this month these channels will be joined by BBC One and BBC Two.

All channels will be available via the bbc.co.uk website through a range of internet enabled devices, and through BBC iPlayer.

Research by UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom reveals that UK consumers watching TV online has doubled in the last 12 months.

In the US, reports show around nearly 20% of households with internet access use it to watch television broadcasts either via channel sites or YouTube, double the number two years ago

Sadly, in accordance with UK law, any device used to watch the BBC simulcasts online must be covered by a UK TV license.

If like most of us you live somewhere else, sorry, you’re out of luck, at least for now.
